What we do
I really believe the only way to stay healthy is to eat properly, get your rest and exercise. If you don’t exercise and do the other two, I still don’t think it’s going to help you that much.

Your Initial Visit
– Your first visit will include a thorough review of your medical history. A complete oral and extra-oral examination along with a full set of x-rays will be carried out. The oral exam will look for the presence and extent of any decay, gum disease, tooth misalignment and jaw dysfunction. When indicated an oral cancer screening test will be suggested. The polishing and scaling of your teeth will remove all stains, plaque and calculus. The hygienist will then give you oral hygiene instructions on how to brush and floss your teeth properly. Finally, a treatment plan will be presented and discussed with you so that you can achieve optimal dental health.
General Dentistry
– All aspects of general dentistry are provided at our office ranging from simple restorations, to more comprehensive treatments requiring veneers, crowns, bridges and / or implants.
Types of Services
Patients can choose from either composite restoration (tooth colored) fillings or silver (amalgam) fillings to restore decayed and /or fractured teeth.
A cosmetic treatment used to enhance the color and shape of teeth (in as little as one appointment). An esthetic technique using composite resins (tooth color) materials to close spaces and allow teeth to look straighter.
Porcelain veneers or as they are sometimes referred to dental laminates are thin shells of porcelain which are bonded onto the front side of teeth. The placement of porcelain veneers is a conservative procedure which can be carried out in office without any anesthesia. It is an excellent cosmetic solution to improve a patient’s smile that has stains, chipped or misaligned teeth.
Inlays or onlays are laboratory prepared restorations that are cemented onto the tooth when the cavity or fractured part of the tooth is too large to be restored by a simple composite or amalgam filling. The material for inlays can be composite , gold or porcelain. This is an alternative treatment to regular white fillings which offer enhanced resistance to breakage. Gold inlays or onlays are not as popular due to the color of the gold but nonetheless are very strong.
In our office we offer our patients 2 types of treatments to whiten their teeth.
- Impressions are taken of the lower and upper arches. Trays are fabricated and the patient is instructed on how to bleach their teeth in the comfort of their home.
- Patients who want to whiten their teeth can do so in our office in one hour by using the ”Zoom” laser bleaching system as seen on the hit ABC series ”Extreme Makeover”. Tooth staining is usually due to a variety of foods and drinks i.e. soda, spicy foods, coffee, red wine, etc. With bleaching techniques, teeth can be whitened without discomfort to the patient.
Periodontics is the treatment of the gingiva (gums) and supporting tissues (alveolar bone, periodontal ligaments and the cementum) around the tooth. While many different diseases affect the tooth supporting structures, plaque induced inflammatory lesions make up the vast majority of periodontal diseases and have traditionally been divided into either gingivitis or periodontitis. In our office we offer our patients a simple periodontal evaluation called PSR which allows us to detect the onset of periodontal disease. Regular recalls with proper oral hygiene instructions ie; how to brush and floss properly.
Night Guards are recommended for patients who suffer with TMJ dysfunction i.e. (patients who grind and clench their teeth).
Sport Guards are recommended for patients who do sports like football, hockey and boxing. These sport guards can prevent serious injuries like fracture of teeth, TMJ trauma as well as concussions.
Minor periodontal surgeries when necessary otherwise patients are referred to the Periodontist for treatment.
Root canal treatment is the process of going inside the pulp space, which is the center of the tooth, and removing infected or dead nerve tissue. The space is then cleaned, shaped, disinfected and then sealed with inert filling material called gutta percha and an eugenol based cement. New techniques allow root canals to be completed in usually one appointment and with minimal discomfort. Since root canal teeth are no longer vital they are more prone to fracture. The placement of a post and crown are recommended when the tooth warrants such treatment.
Our office offers patients of all ages (both children and adults) the simple alignment of teeth using removable retainers. When necessary we will refer our patients to an orthodontist for treatment.
A dental extraction is the removal of a tooth from the mouth. Extractions are performed for a wide variety of reasons, including tooth decay that has destroyed enough tooth structure to prevent a restoration. Extraction of impacted or problematic wisdom teeth are routinely performed, as are extractions of some permanent teeth to make space for orthodontic treatment.
Modern advances in dental science now allow us to offer patients tooth replacements which look, feel and function as natural teeth. For over 20 years dental implants have become an ideal method to replace a missing tooth or to replace an entire arch. Working together with a Periodontist and or an Oral Surgeon most patients with adequate bone support can have dental implants. To ensure a patient is a proper candidate a panoramic x ray is required. Fixed bridges and /or fixed dentures can be fabricated onto the implants as well as complete or partial dentures.
Crowns are a type of dental restoration which when cemented into place fully covers the portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line. Crowns can be made out of porcelain (dental ceramic), metal (a gold or other metal alloy) or a combination of both. Crowns may be recommended to restore a tooth to its original shape, to strengthen a tooth which has a large restoration or which has had a root canal or just to improve the cosmetic appearance of a tooth.
Bridge is a dental restoration used to replace missing teeth by permanently cementing to abutment (adjacent) teeth or dental implants. The choice of materials used to make a bridge can be either gold, porcelain fused to metal or in the right situation porcelain alone.
Partial or full dentures can be made to restore function and improve esthetics to a mouth with few or no teeth. Dental implants can be used in these cases to enhance the retention of either full or partial dentures.
Children should have their first dental visit at two years of age. We try to make their visit enjoyable, informative and stress free. Their examination includes an evaluation of facial growth and development patterns, potential orthodontic problems and psychological needs as related to dental treatment. Our office strongly recommends the use of sealants on most children. Sealants are painted on the biting surface of the permanent molars to provide a protective bonded coating which prevents decay.
Patients with emergencies will be seen the same day. Temporary measures may have to be employed until more definitive treatment can be completed.
If an appointment must be cancelled please give us at least 24 hours notice so that this time may be used by another patient needing it. A fee may otherwise be charged.
Fees are based on the current Quebec provincial fee guide. Financial arrangements can be made for extensive treatment plans as well as special circumstances to make it easier on your budget.
